Stainless steel pipe fittings are components in which a stainless steel pipe is inserted into the fitting’s socket end and then welded around the entire circumference of the fitting using argon arc welding, making this one of the most reliable connection methods available. The inner diameter of the fitting’s socket is equal to the outer diameter of the pipe. Based on the design of the welded joint at the fitting’s edge, these fittings can be further classified into three types: beveled-edge extended-weld, stepped-edge extended-weld, and non-extended-weld configurations. The typical nominal sizes for socket-and-spigot weld connections range from DN15 to DN100.

The inner diameter of the fitting’s socket is equal to the outer diameter of the pipe. Based on the design of the welded joint at the fitting’s edge, these fittings can be further classified into three types: beveled-edge extended-flange, stepped-edge extended-flange, and flangeless. The typical nominal size range for spigot-and-socket weld connections is DN15 to DN100.

  Butt-welded

Butt-welded stainless steel pipe fittings are pipe fittings in which a stainless steel pipe and a fitting are aligned end-to-end and welded around the joint using argon arc welding; weld reinforcement is generally required.

The outer diameter of the socket end of the fitting equals the outer diameter of the pipe.

Butt welding is generally used for welding larger-diameter stainless steel piping systems.

  Compression-type pipe fittings

It features reliable connectivity, convenient and rapid installation, suitability for flush mounting, maintenance-free operation and updates, and relatively superior cost-effectiveness.

The working principle of compression-type pipe fittings is to insert a thin-walled stainless steel pipe into the fitting’s socket and then use a specialized crimping tool to securely lock the pipe within the fitting. The cross-sectional shape of the crimped area is hexagonal, and an O-ring seal between the pipe and the fitting ensures leak-proof performance, resistance to pull-out, vibration resistance, and high-pressure tolerance. Consequently, this type of fitting is a relatively advanced connection solution for potable water systems, municipal water supply systems, heating systems, steam systems, industrial oil pipelines, and industrial gas pipelines, making it suitable for piping applications involving water, oil, and gas.

  Self-locking circlip-type pipe fitting

The quick-connect coupling method is a “plug-in self-locking circlip-type connection” technology. Simply insert the pipe into the quick-connect fitting to achieve rapid installation, and when disassembly is required, use the accompanying lightweight, specialized tool to grip the quick-connect fitting and apply force to pull out and remove the pipe.

Quick-connect pipe fittings not only offer more convenient and faster installation and removal, but also boast excellent performance characteristics such as reusability, leak-proof sealing, vibration resistance, and compensation for thermal expansion and contraction. They represent a new exploration and breakthrough in pipeline connection methods. These fittings have been widely adopted and thoroughly validated in water supply systems both domestically and internationally, and in Hong Kong they are designated piping materials by the Water Supplies Department.

Thanks to a specially formulated high-temperature-resistant rubber gasket, this pipe fitting has gradually gained adoption and recognition in the inlet and outlet piping systems of solar water heaters, making installation and operation more convenient. We are confident that future innovations and breakthroughs in pipe connection technology will continue to emerge, driving ongoing advancements toward greater ease of use, speed, and user-friendliness—and delivering an ever-growing array of superior products for the benefit of humanity.
