To ensure the stable and reliable operation of the entire unit, the chemical equipment must possess the following performance characteristics:
(1) It shall be commensurate with the properties, quantities, process characteristics, and production scale of the raw materials, products, intermediate products, and other materials handled by the production unit;
(2) A production unit, whether operating in continuous or batch mode, comprises multiple pieces of equipment; therefore, it is essential that chemical equipment be reliably coordinated and properly matched with one another as well as with other systems, including piping, valves, instruments, gauges, electrical circuits, and so on.
(3) Chemical equipment shall be designed and constructed with adequate sealing performance and mechanical strength to withstand normal operating conditions, including temperature, pressure, flow rate, and material corrosion characteristics. Furthermore, it must possess sufficient capability to endure, prevent, respond to, and manage abnormal or adverse conditions that may arise.
(4) Both continuous and batch chemical production units are required to operate continuously over long periods. Therefore, factors such as equipment wear and corrosion must be taken into account to ensure a sufficiently long normal service life.
(5) While meeting the aforementioned conditions, it is necessary to optimize the materials, selection, manufacturing costs, efficiency, and energy consumption of chemical equipment, striving to minimize these factors as much as possible.
(6) Most chemical equipment, regardless of its specific structure and performance, is also suitable for use in industries such as oil refining, light industry, and food processing, thereby exhibiting broad applicability.
